Bethel AME Church of Iowa City is partnering with the Iowa City Police Department to offer an ALICE Training workshop on April 9, 2019. ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) provides preparation and a plan for individuals and organizations on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event. The ALICE Training option-based tactics have become the accepted response, versus the traditional “lockdown only” approach.
ALICE Training is for church leaders and staff, security teams, greeters and ushers, facility staff, teachers, church members, and the general public. It’s also for law enforcement and volunteers who want to be resources for places of worship. The training concepts are easily and immediately applicable to any place of worship or business, no matter what the size or setting. Due to the violent nature of the content as well as live simulations, this workshop is not suitable for all audiences. Young children and anyone highly sensitive to stressful scenarios should not attend.
This event is free and open to the public. Please let us know you’re coming by leaving a message at 319-338-7876 or through the contact page.
